Leesburg baker's dozen

First ever mountain bike race. The Leesburg Baker's Dozen. It is a 13 hour race, starting at 11am and ending at 12 midnight.

I was on a two person team. We each rode a lap, then the other rode a lap. I don't know if I would do it that way again.

I started cramping after the 4th lap. After 8 laps, I had enough. Yueq did his next lap, then 1 more beyond that. Team total of 17 laps, or about 120 miles. I think that we got 16th place out of 46 teams. That was what the standing was the last time Tim checked.

Also riding were Denis, Edward, Tim, Hiram, and Dan. Edward and Denis were riding it solo, Denis in single speed class. Tim, Hiram, and Dan rode the 3 person male class.

After some pizza (that gave me awful hiccups) and a few minutes sitting by the bonfire and listening to a 5 piece acoustic band, I hit ground for a good sleep. It started raining, but the tent kept me dry. Around 6am, the rain had stopped. I heard some thunder in the distance, so I rushed to pack up so I wouldn't get caught in the coming rain.

Good thing I did. When I was driving home there were torrential downpours.

Here are the GPS statistics for the ride. I missed the first lap, so my actual total mileage is about 56 miles.

If I do something like this again, I would definitely pace myself better. I didn't have Endurolytes, which I typically use to help replace electrolytes. I thought there was a bag of them in my camel back. But I never did find it. It was hot during most of the day, reaching 83 according to weather channel. The heat combined with me riding at race pace definitely depleted my salts. I don't typically ride at an elevated pace for so long. It is good to push myself.

Here's a map with the overlay of my GPS data:
